• Hand dig within required clearance area
• Protect and support exposed facilities
• Maintain visible markings
• Stop work if conditions change
• Stop work immediately
• Protect the area and ensure safety
• Notify the affected utility owner
• Call 911 if gas, electric, or hazardous facilities are involved
• Do not attempt unauthorized repairs
Alabama law requires that any damage, including coating damage or near misses with clear potential for damage, be reported through the One-Call Notification System.
• Report all damages, including minor or protective coating damage
• Report significant near misses
• Include ticket number, location, and description of the incident
• Submit required reporting within statutory timeframes
